Amy Purdy creating history!

Amy Purdy was diagnosed with meningococcal meningitis when she was only 19, this lead to septicaemia and then septic shock. As a result of the illness, Amy lost both of her legs below her knees. Snowboarding was a love of Amy’s and something she was clearly very skilled at and with two prosthetic legs, she was concerned that it would be extremely difficult to pick the sport up again. As quoted on this video, she stated ‘the doctors told me I would never be able to snowboard again and I remember thinking, well maybe that’s because nobody has done it yet’.
Purdy went on to create history. This courageous and strong woman used snowboarding to give her the motivation to walk and to be able to ride. Now, she’s back on her board doing what she loves the most and looks bloody good whilst she’s doing it. We were all so inspired by her journey and her story. When life is difficult and throws curveballs at us, it can be easy to quit and shy away – Purdy is the best example of why we shouldn’t! Why we should stand tall, be brave and back ourselves because when we doo, something amazing happens. Please see below.
