April Fools.. Its Snow Joke!

SAGAMORE HILLS, Ohio — Northeast Ohio ski bums, rejoice. Brandywine ski resort will be open Wednesday — April Fool’s Day — for one last day of spring skiing.
That’s the latest Boston Mills Brandywine has been open in years.
Yes, it’s spring break for plenty of school kids. Yes, it’s supposed to be 55 degrees and sunny. And yes there’s still plenty of snow. Snow machines are moving piles of it around, to cover as much terrain as possible.
“It’s basically a thank you,” said Brandywine spokesman Steve Mackle. “It’s one more day in the season.”
That’s in part because the ski hills didn’t open until New Year’s Day.
(You might have forgotten after this frigorific winter, but December was actually warm.)
The sister ski resorts aim to open in mid-December and last until mid-March, though last season started at Thanksgiving.
“Going into last weekend, we figured it would be our last one,” Mackle said. Then came the possibility of a bonus day. “We figured it would be a joke.”
Boston Mills is shuttered for the season. But no joke, Brandywine — the favorite of snowboarders for its terrain park — will be open 1-7 p.m. Wednesday. Passes are $20, and equipment rentals are $15.
